Overview: Understanding Wreath Sizing
When choosing the right wreath size for your door, window, or display area, it's important to understand how wreath dimensions are determined — and what those measurements actually mean once the wreath is fluffed and installed. Here's a quick guide to help you make the right selection.
How We Calculate Wreath Sizing
Wreath sizes are measured tip to tip, not by the frame or the unfluffed form. This means:
- We measure across the widest point of the greenery, stretching it as far as it can naturally extend.
- The measurement represents the maximum outer diameter of the wreath before it is shaped or fluffed.
- Once you fluff the wreath and shape the branches for a fuller appearance, the overall diameter will decrease slightly. This is completely normal and expected.
Frame vs. Greenery
One of the most common misconceptions is assuming the metal frame determines the wreath’s final size. In reality:
- The metal or wire frame is smaller than the final advertised size.
- The lush greenery and tips extend beyond the frame and contribute to the full measurement.
- A 36" wreath, for example, might have a frame closer to 25–30", but the greenery fills it out to 33" once fluffed and looking great.
Wreath Assembly by Size
As wreath sizes increase, so does the complexity of their structure. Here's how they're built:
- 24"–36" Wreaths: These are single-piece constructions, fully assembled and ready to hang.
- 48" Wreaths: Designed with a hinged frame, allowing the wreath to fold for easier shipping and storage. When installed, the hinge remains open on its own, but a mounting plate can be purchased to bolt it in place and prevent it from closing.
- 60" and Larger Wreaths: These come in multiple sections that are bolted together during setup to create a large, stable display piece.
These construction methods ensure safe handling and efficient storage while maintaining strength and shape for larger displays.

Tips for Choosing the Right Size
- Standard front doors (36" wide): We recommend a 24"–30" wreath for balanced visibility without overpowering the door.
- Oversized entries or commercial use: Consider 36" and up for high-impact displays.
- Interior use (above mantels, mirrors, etc.): Measure your space and choose a wreath with enough margin to avoid crowding.
