Twinkly: Mobile App - Multiple Users
Owner's Authority:
Once assigned, the Owner user has the chance to manage roles within the Installation according to their needs. They can perform actions such as changing roles or transferring ownership as needed to suit the requirements of the Installation
User Roles:
- Owner: The user who originally set up the installation will be assigned as the Owner until they re-assign the role. They get access to all features, including creating and deleting installations, they are also the default installers.
Please note: Using multiple devices with the same account can cause inconsistent behavior. We recommend using one device per Twinkly Account. - Installer: This can be assigned to invited users, mostly for troubleshooting and settings (like mapping, choosing effects or scheduling/timer settings). They get access to all the features, but cannot delete the Installation of which he/she is not also the Owner and edit/create new effects
⚠️ Note: The term “Installer” here refers to a user role within the Twinkly app and does not refer to a person who installs lights on-site.
In the Twinkly app, Installers are users assigned for troubleshooting and settings tasks like mapping, choosing effects, or scheduling...
- User: The user is someone who can turn on and off the devices within the Twinkly app, change the brightness, change effects among those already stored on the device, apply effects from the gallery, create and edit playlists and rename each object (group or individual device)
- Guest: The Guest has the most limited access out of all the roles. They are able to turn on and off the devices via the app, change the brightness, change effects among those already stored or the color and stream effects from the gallery however, they cannot apply them.

How do I share an Installation?
To share an installation with another family member, friend, colleague, or just the person you want to be part of your Twinkly experience, follow these simple steps:
- Enter the devices area of the App (LED icon at the bottom right of the screen)
- Select the Installation you wish to share from the drop-down menu
- Click on the gear icon in the upper left to access the Installation details
- Through the Users menu you can change your role and assign a different one.
- Click Invite new member to invite another member to participate in managing your Twinkly Installation
- Enter an email associated with a Twinkly account (have the person create a new log in if they do not have one yet. It must be an email that doesn’t currently have a Twinkly account) in the space provided, choose the role to give him/her and click on Invite
The user chosen as a member will receive a notification when opening the App through which they can accept the invitation to add the installation to their Twinkly account.
To receive the invitation successfully, be sure to open the app from a completely closed state. This means closing the app completely before reopening it. Once an invited member opens the App and accepts the invitation, the user who shared the installation will be notified, after the new member must close and reopen the app or simply swipe down on the device's page and wait for about ten seconds. Not waiting ten seconds will cause you to have to shut down your phone/tablet completely and turn it back on. Proceed to the Twinkly app.
Notification Process:
- Notification Display: Upon sending an invitation, the recipient will only receive a notification when they open the app. If the recipient has already opened the app, they must close it and reopen it to trigger the notification.
- Prompt Action: To ensure timely notification reception, recipients should be advised to close and reopen the app if they have it already open at the time of invitation.
Tracking Invitation Status:
- Pending Invitations: After sending an invitation, the sender will observe the invitation status as "pending."
- Refreshing the Object List: To view the most current status updates, the sender must exit the object list and manually refresh the page. This can be done by swiping down on the screen.
- Accessing Installation Details: Once the page is refreshed, the sender can navigate to the installation details to find the updated statuses of the users invited.
Manual Refresh:
- Real-Time Updates: Manual refreshing ensures that the sender receives real-time updates on the status of invited users within installations.
Important notes:
- Each user can also assume the Role of Owner, in addition to the Role that is assigned to them. This will only happen if the current owner assigns it to them.
- Each installation exists if and only if it has at least 1 user with an associated Owner role
- The user who generates an Installation assumes the Owner and Installer roles
- Ownership of an Installation can be transferred but never destroyed.
